二階に行く前にちょっと階段をば。ご覧の通り何故かカーペットが糊付けされております。段がグラグラする部分などもあったのでおそらくぼろ隠しのために元の持ち主がやったものです。これは店子さんに貸し出す前、この家を買ったときからこのカーペットでした。

Before we go to the 2nd floor, let's talk about the stairs. As you can see for some reason there is a carpet glued on to the steps. One of the steps was wiggly so I believe this was something the previous owner did to hide the fault of the stairs. This carpet was there before the tenant, back from the time this house was purchased.

カーペットを取り去った状態です。古い接着剤が残っていて見た目が結構汚いです。

This is after we removed the carpet. Old glue is left on the surface and it looks pretty filthy.

ボロ隠しからボロ隠しへ、この時は床材の木目調タイルを階段に貼ってみました。結果として薄く固い素材だったので割れやすく、けっこうすぐ割れ始めてしまいました。もっと柔らかい素材にするべきですね。皆様ぜひこの失敗もご参考にして下さい。

Hiding the fault to another form of hiding the fault, this time we used a type of wooden textured floor tiles. In hindsight, the material was thin and hard so it turned out to be brittle and had cracks quite soon after. We should have chosen a softer material. I wish this could be a bad example that someone reading this can avoid.

同じアングルの写真を並べましたが素材感が分からないと思うので別の角度の写真も。所でこの作業は単純な段取りながら脳がやられる作業だというのは言いましたっけ？

Images from the same angle continued but another angle for you to see the material a bit better. By the way, did I mention that these were done in simple steps but brain damaging?

実はカーペット2階の廊下まで続いていました。

Actually, the carpet also continued to this hallway on the second floor.

廊下の板もくたびれてたので、ウッドデッキに使う木材を貼り付けました。

The hallway floor's wood was also beaten up, so we applied the wood material that you use for wooden decks.

そしてオイルステンで着色。ここはすごく自然で今でも綺麗です。

And then colored with oil stain. This ended up looking very natural and pretty.

DIYリフォームパート30 - 化粧 / DIY Home Renovation Part 30 - Cosmetics 今回でとりあえず撮りだめた分は終わりです。窓をやりながら化粧をやっていったわけですが、ほとんどの壁は珪藻土です。例のネリードというブランドのもので、非常に塗りやすくておすすめです。編者もこれ以前はコテで珪藻土をぬるという経験は無かったのですが、簡単すぎて拍子抜けです。広告費が出てるわけではないですよ！ただ、水性とはいえ床に落とすと拭かなければいけないので、それなりに体力は使います。 These are the end of the photos that have been taken for the moment. DIYリフォームパート29 - 窓地獄 / DIY Home Renovation Part 29 - Windows Hell おっと、マイクロソフトの悪口はそこまでだ！異常に窓の多い作りで建物の片側がほとんど窓という状況なので、以前の二重窓化の作業が延々と続きます。やってることは一緒なのでさらっとお写真だけ。 Stop right there!
