前回耐力壁の完成写真を載せ忘れたのでこちらに。姉の計画としてはこの部分には壁紙を貼るとのことです。

In the last post, I forgot to post the end result of the structural wall so here it is. My sister's plan seems to apply some wallpapers for this piece here.

さて、この日はアイランドキッチン化計画の第一歩な訳ですが最初に行ったのは換気扇です。これはユニットを取り付ける穴ですが、結構小さく180㎝はある兄が肩を片側だけ入れて作業するさまは非常に窮屈そうでした。嫌な作業ベスト10に入るのでは。

The first step we took in Operation Island Kitchen was the vent. The photo is of the hole where we install the unit, but it's quite small and my brother is like 6 feet tall and him having one shoulder shoved looked pretty uncomfortable. I believe this will well be in the top 10 worst processes.

ユニット取り付け後です。一般的な西洋風の換気扇です。

Here you see the main unit attached. It's a usual western-style ventilation fan.

ということは、昔ながらの日本家屋には取り付ける場所が無く、メンテハッチと本体の入る小さな穴から一人ずつ体を入れて、狭くて暗い天井裏に2本梁を渡して取り付けるという工程でした。もちろん狭いし埃臭いし変な体勢だし上手く一回で留まらないしで2度とやりたくないです・・・。

So that means a good old Japanese style house has no means to fasten the thing, which meant we each put our body through the hole for the unit and the maintenance hatch to attach two beams for a place to mount. Of course, it's cramped, stinky of dust and you're in an awkward position and then it doesn't fit in one go which I hope I never really need to do again...  

何れにしても出来てしまえば中々カッコ良い感じで満足感があります。

Although once when you're done, it looks cool and you get this satisfaction of accomplishment.

高さ調整が出来るユニットだったので、今回は背の高い人でも邪魔にならないように一番上まで上げました。

The unit allowed height adjustment so this time we lifted to its highest so it won't be a problem for tall people.
