前の記事に載ってた写真じゃん、と思われた方、その通りです。しかしちょっと注目して頂きたい。木造軸組工法をちょっとでもご存知の方はギョッとされると思います。筆者は外様なので数年ここに住んでおりましたが、全く気が付きませんでした。なんと広い窓を取り付けたため、柱が窓の上で終わっていて2F外壁の重みを窓枠で受けるという荒業になっています・・・。誠に男らしい。

You who thought "Hey I saw that image in the last article.", you are correct. But I would like to have your attention here. A person that has some knowledge about wooden frame structures might be startled. As for me, I had no idea and lived here for a few years as it was. The window..., the window because of the length, someone thought it to be a good idea to chop the pillar in order to fit it in. Now the window frame is holding the whole weight of the 2F exterior wall... Very manly indeed.

仕方が無いので義理の兄が窓の重みを受ける梁を考案して、それで2F外壁の重みを受けることにしました。色の濃い梁が実際の構造材です。色の薄いのはツーバイ材で、新しい窓の日指になります。

No use in complaining, so in order to remedy the situation, my brother in law had the idea of installing a beam to hold the weight of the 2F wall. The dark beam is the actual structure and the pale one is a 2 x 4 to hold a new eave for the new window.

元々あった日指とさほど変わらず簡単な構造をツーバイ材で作成。

The structure is not so different from the original eave, just that is done with 2 x 4s. 

防水紙を貼ってとりあえず完成。ルーフィングはまた後日。

Applied the waterproofing sheet and done for now. The roofing will be done another day.

それにしても良くこれで311を生き残ったものです。

In any case, it's a wonder how this house survived 311.
