さて、いよいよモルタルを塗るわけですが・・・。

OK, we're finally applying the mortar...

はい、この通り！

ちょっと肩透かしでしたね・・・。あまりにも塗るのが大変で写真をほとんど撮ってませんでした。モルタルは重くて（いわば液状の石ですからね）あまり乗りが良くないのでまるでダンベル運動をずっと繰り返してるような感じでした。特に日指のような場所は頭の上まで手を上げないと行けないの素人の集まりでは写真を撮ろうと言うところまで気が回りませんでした。ホントにビリーズ ブートキャンプみたいだったんですから！

That was pretty anticlimactic... Well, since it was so hard to apply it, I couldn't document it so much. The issue with the mortar that it's heavy (well, basically it's like liquid stone) and doesn't stick well so everybody was like doing dumbbell exercises forever. Especially at places like the eave, you needed to reach above your head every time and since we were a bunch of amateurs, everybody was exhausted and never thought to take a snap. I'm telling you, it was like Billy's Bootcamp!

代わりと言ってはなんですが、ジョリパットというコテで塗る外壁塗装の時の写真をば。

One more set!

As a substitute here are some photos of an exterior finish by the name of Jolypate which is also applied with a trowel.

有難いことに非常に乗りの良い塗装です。白く見えますが、これはカメラが勝手に補正して白くなっているだけで、実際は薄いクリーム色です。離れた写真にはちゃんとクリームに写ってます。

Thankfully, this applies very easily. It looks white, but it's the camera that's doing white correction on its own and the actual color is a pale crème color. A photo shot from a distance shows the proper color.

これこの通り。

ここに実際自分が住んでた頃はこんな変な色の家は他に見たことが無いと思っていましたが、最悪なのは端っこのちょっとだけあるコンクリの壁。今は許されるが外観になったと思います。

Like so.

When I actually used to live here, I thought it was the strangest colored house I have ever seen, and the worst thing about it was the bit of concrete wall at the end. Now it's forgivable. At least from this side.

塗ってない裏側を見ると分かりますが、謎の雰囲気が大爆発しています。いったい誰が自分の家をこんな色に？

If you see the other side you can image it, but it's just an explosion of mystery. I mean who would want their house in that color?
